Princess Kate is diagnosed with Cancer and is undergoing treatment
LONDON, March 22, 2024 — Kate Middleton, Britain’s Princess, revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. This is a shocking news for British citizens and followers, well wishers of the Royal family.
In a video statement released Friday, she said she underwent major abdominal surgery in London in January this year and that her condition was initially thought to be non-cancerous.
” The operation was a success. However, post-operative tests revealed that I had cancer. Therefore, my medical team has advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I am in the early stages of treatment.” ~ Kate Middleton
“This was obviously a huge shock. William and I have done everything we can to handle this matter and deal with it privately for the benefit of our young family.”
“I’m fine and getting stronger every day. Things that help me heal. In my mind, body and soul,” she added later in her speech. She asked for space and privacy until her treatment was complete. It is not clear what type of cancer it is or at what stage it was discovered.
Kate remained in the hospital after the surgery. At this time, there is no confirmation as to what type of operation this was. Kensington Palace said in a statement that Duchess Kate, 42, would like the public to “respect her wishes for her personal medical information to be kept confidential”. The palace indicated at the time that Duchess Kate would not resume her royal duties until after Easter.
The princess had not been seen in public since Christmas 2023, when she attended church services with the extended royal family, including her children and her husband Prince William.
Since news of her surgery, there has been an online frenzy on social media about her condition and whereabouts. The palace has remained largely silent on the issue, which has sometimes added fuel to the fire.
The obsession with the former Duchess Kate reached its peak after photos of her were released in the UK on Mother’s Day, March 10th. Later that day, the news organization issued a so-called death threat, retracting the image and noting that it had also been heavily edited. Every detail of the image was scrutinized, from Kate’s hair to the children’s seemingly contradictory clothes to the distorted protrusions in the background.
On March 11, Kensington Palace released a statement on social media saying that Kate had edited the image. The statement read, “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing my images. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday has caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C”.
Since then, images and videos of what is clearly Kate have appeared in British tabloids, further fueling the intrigue and conversation. Earlier this week, it was reported that staff at the hospital where Kate was being treated had attempted to access her records without her permission.
Her father-in-law, Charles III, announced in early February that he had been diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer and had begun treatment.
